Mission: “Heatherwood PTA is a powerful voice for children, a relevant resource for families, schools and communities, an advocate for the well-being and education of all children.”
Classroom Support: Provide financial support for classroom needs thru grants and curriculum-supporting, or character building, programs that encourage a positive school culture. We will have two Granting cycles during the school year to meet HW staff grant requests in a timely manner. We will evaluate our budget status after the fundraiser to determine if further fundraising is needed.
FACE (Family and Community Engagement): Continue and expand engagement in HW PTA by the various groups in our population as well as continue to reach out to 5th grade/incoming students and parents. Establish an ambassador/mentor program for new parents; at a minimum create new family welcome packets. Sponsor one multicultural event this year (multicultural potluck). Partner with ASB to maximize impact of both organizations.
Be a Relevant Resource: Better communicate the volunteer opportunities throughout the school year; include specific opportunities on volunteer interest sheet and follow up with clear steps to get involved. Continue to communicate school and PTA information through a weekly eblast, newsletter, FB. Use Peachjar at least once a quarter to send out relevant flier.
Advocacy: Inform the community of issues affecting education and well-being of children at the local, state and national levels.
Education: Provide student and parent education opportunities that reflect the interests of students, staff and parents. Discover these interests through surveys. Sponsor at least 2-3 events for parents.
Membership: Increase membership by 10% to reflect our diverse populations with members from various areas such as parents, staff, students and community.
Leadership: Develop and utilize a transition plan for board members for the end of the year.
