Heatherwood PTA 2018-2019 Goals

Mission: “Heatherwood PTA is a powerful voice for children, a relevant resource for families, schools and communities, an advocate for the well-being and education of all children.”

  • Promote and support the educational, social, and emotional needs of Heatherwood students with supplemental programs that encourage a positive school culture.
    • Sponsor and coordinate at least 2 student assemblies and 2 parent education opportunities per year
  • Give school administration and staff financial and tangible support to meet classroom and other school needs;
    • Provide 2 Grant cycles to provide year-round, timely support
  • Encourage and strengthen relationships between Heatherwood staff, students and families, and our greater community (FACE);
    • promote cooperation between ASB and PTA to maximize impact of both organizations
    • Sponsor one multicultural event this year (multicultural potluck)
    • continue to reach out to 5th grade/incoming students and parents.
    • Establish an ambassador/mentor program for new parents; at a minimum create new family welcome packets
  • Strongly encourage parent involvement through volunteerism, parent education seminars, and PTA meetings;
    • Increase Membership by 10%
    • Encourage diverse membership with inclusion of staff, parents, and community
    • Increase active participation through communication of volunteer opportunities; include specific opportunities on volunteer interest sheet and follow up with clear steps to get involved
  • Acknowledge the efforts of students, staff, and volunteers and supporting their endeavors;
    • Provide frequent staff appreciation events (preferably monthly)
    • Support Heatherwood teachers and staff with student reward events, such as field day
  • Communicate and share our accomplishments and goals with the school and greater community;
    • Weekly eBlasts, Facebook, and HW PTA website
    • Inform the community of issues affecting education and well-being of children at the local, state and national levels.
  • Develop leaders for continued PTA service at our school with relevant training and transition documentation.
